A)  Present time-frame introduction (When the introduction to the Subjonctif présent is in a present time frame):

[Present time-frame introduction]  +  que  Subjonctif présent - Actif (Basic format) (Section 38A)  +  depuis  +  amount of time or a moment in time.


B)  Past time-frame introduction (When the introduction to the Subjonctif présent is in a past time frame):

A-1) When the introduction to the Subjonctif présent is in a present time frame:

 

With verbs of ACTION

 

Example 1 (masculin / féminin singulier)

 

Je suis (present time frame) étonné qu'il (elle) parle depuis dix minutes!

I am (present time frame) amazed that he (she) has been speaking / has been talking for ten minutes! (and is still doing so)

I am (present time frame) amazed that he (she) has spoken / has talked for ten minutes. (and is still doing so)

 

Example 2 (masculin / féminin singulier)

 

Je suis (present time frame) déçu qu'il (elle) travaille depuis minuit.

I am (present time frame) disappointed that he (she) has been working since midnight. (and is still doing so)

I am (present time frame) disappointed that he (she) has worked since midnight. (and is still doing so)

With verbs of CONDITION or STATE

 

Example 3 (masculin / féminin singulier)

 

Je suis (present time frame) étonné qu'il (elle) soit membre du club depuis des années.

I am (present time frame) amazed that he (she) has been a member of the club for years! (and still is a member now)

 

Example 4 (masculin / féminin singulier)

 

Je suis (present time frame) triste qu'il (elle) ait mal à la tête depuis hier.

I am (present time frame) sad that he (she) has had a headache since yesterday. (and still has the headache now)
