Normal meanings: (Used for hypothetical statements or questions regarding the past)
Example 1 (masculin / féminin singulier)
Il (elle) aurait voulu acheter le livre. He (she) should have liked to buy the book. (UK usage - same as would have liked to buy) He (she) should like to have bought the book. (UK usage - same as would like to have bought) He (she) would have liked to buy the book. He (she) would have wanted to buy the book. He (she) would like to have bought the book.
